Tamil Programme

To promote the use of Tamil Language, the department has organised various programmes and activities for the pupils.

 

Tamil Competition – Fancy Dress

  

 

Mother Tongue Language (MTL) Fortnight

Students participated in a wide range of Indian Traditional Games, (Kabaadi, Aadu pooli aatam) which were organised by the department.

 

 

 

Buddy Reading

Our department organised a Buddy Reading Programme for students from Primary 3 to Primary 5. The objective of this programme was to help students in reading with the help of parent volunteers and other students.

 

 

Holistic Assessment for Primary 1 and Primary 2

Tamil Department uses a range of Assessment Tools, both in written and in performance tasks, to provide feedback to students on their mastery of the language skills.

 

  

 

 

 

Reading Workshop for Parents

A reading workshop was organised for Primary 1 to Primary 3 parents. The objective of this workshop were to equip parents with the skills to help their children improve their reading and to instill the habit of reading . This workshop was carried out by Mrs Tamilarasi Subramaniam, a Master Teacher and Mrs Kokilavani Vassou, a Senior Teacher .

 

 

 

 

 

Cultural Camp

The department collaborated with the S1 cluster to organise a Cultural Camp for Primary 4 and Primary 5 Tamil students. The objective of this camp was to arouse the interest of students in the learning of Tamil Language.

 

 

 

Tamil Forum @ Management Development Institute of Singapore(MDIS)

Primary 5 and Primary 6 Tamil students took part in a Tamil Forum which was organised by the Tamil Representive Council. The objective of the forum was to encourage students to use the language and continue speaking in Tamil.

 

 

 

Tamil Fest 2012 ( Learning Journey)

Learning Journey to Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Center was organised as part of Tamil Language month celebration. Primary 3 to Primary 5 students took part in the Learning Journey.
